Make your home cozy and inviting throughout the holiday season using Christmas fireplace decorations. While the Christmas tree is often the main point of holiday décor, you can also decorate the area above your fireplace, the mantel, and the hearth.
The most traditional Christmas decorating idea for a fireplace is to hang stockings from the mantel. Decorative hooks in the shape of snowmen, Santas, or that spell words like “JOY” or “LOVE” are excellent ways to add interest to your stockings.
The mantel is the ideal place to display a Christmas village. Adding some faux snow or wrapping garland and lights will highlight your collection of figurines and houses. Collectibles can also be displayed on the mantel; grouping them by theme or color. It is easy to create an elegant mantel by using large round ball ornaments, garland, white lights, and a few bows. Intertwine the garland and lights and lay across the top of the mantel. Scatter the large ball ornaments within the garland. Place bows or small wreaths at the ends of the mantel and in the center.
Get creative with the space above the fireplace. Most people have a large mirror or painting in this area, so a nail/hook is already available for hanging up decorations. Hang up a large Christmas wreath, tapestry, or painting that features a winter scene.
Finally, if you use the space around the hearth it will add some interest to the entire fireplace. You can place gifts of various shapes and sizes, miniature faux trees, and many more. A good idea is to place some holiday photos from past Christmases; they will add a personal touch to the hearth.
Incorporate a few lights and oversized ornaments, and there it is! You have a unique holiday fireplace display.
